Professor Alicja Krella is the Head of the Centre of Hydrodynamics and the Erosion Processes Department at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Science, Gdansk, Poland. She has published 89 papers on the subject of cavitation erosionand solid particle erosion.From the beginning of her professional career, her scientific interests were related to materials and mechanics engineering. Her doctoral dissertation concerned the relationship between the cavitation erosion process of solid materials and the intensity of cavitation. Starting from 2005, research interests were related to PVD coatings, i.e. the influence of deposition parameters and mechanical properties of the coatings on erosion resistance, and destruction processes. Then,research has also focused on other coatings, and new materials such as nanobainitic steel and magnesium-based composites and alloys.Lately, she extended her research interests to hydrogen-induced material degradation and the methods to prevent it. In 2019, she was an Invited Professor in the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France, Valenciennes, France. That year she started cooperation with scientists from the National University of Singapore. Since 2020, she has been in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list compiled by Stanford University.

Luca Spiridigliozzi is both a Material Science Researcher (SSD: ING-IND/22) and Lecturer at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy) and a freelance scientific consultant for the industrial sector. He graduated and got a Ph.D. in “Mechanical, Civil and Biomechanical Engineering” at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy), with an additional Master’s Degree in “Musicology”. His main research areas are: Fuel Cells, Rare Earths-based Materials, and Entropy-Stabilized Oxides. Professor Rachel Yerushalmi – Rozen is a member of the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Ilze Katz Institute for Nanotechnology at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. My name is Rahel Abera, and I am a passionate individual with a strong material science and engineering background. In 2023, I graduated from the University of Adama Science and Technology in Ethiopia, receiving my bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering. During my undergraduate studies, I excelled academically and was honored with an award for my outstanding performance. This recognition opened doors for me as I was granted a full scholarship to pursue my master's degree at the same university. Currently, I am a dedicated master's student, specializing in material science and engineering. Alongside my studies, I actively contribute to the university as an academic and research assistant. This role allows me to apply my knowledge and assist in various research projects. Dr. Tesfaye Haile Habtemariam obtained his Ph.D. in Inorganic chemistry with research focused upon Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs) science for photo-degradation of contaminants in textile industry effluents with Professor Yonas and Professor Raju at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He did part of his Ph.D. at the School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham, England. Dr. Habtemariam joined the Department of Chemistry (WolaitaSodo University) in 2010 as a lecturer of inorganic chemistry.He has been involved in teaching and research advisor for several MSc students. In addition to his academic career, Habtemariamserved WolaitaSodo University as the Head of the Department of Chemistry from November 2019 to November 2021 for two solid years.

D. Vignesh is a research scholar from the Department of Physics, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra (BIT Mesra). He is a recipient of DST-INSPIRE fellowship (AORC program - 2021). Rafael Macedo is a dedicated scientist, married, and a father of two. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), where he focused on developing analytical methods for evaluating contaminated soil. He earned his Master's degree from the same institution, studying heavy metal remediation using clay minerals, specifically in the adsorption of toxic metal cations such as copper (Cu) and lead (Pb), and their immobilization through the formation of PVA-Bentonite hydrogel. Rafael obtained his PhD in Science with an emphasis on Chemistry from the University of São Paulo. His doctoral research involved the advanced characterization of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) composed of cobalt and aluminum, as well as hybrids with nanocarbons. Following his PhD, Rafael completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, within the Department of Mining and Petroleum Engineering. His post-doctoral project focused on the leaching and dissolution of cement paste and the characterization of recycled aggregates using mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), thermal analysis, and vibrational spectroscopy in the infrared (IR) and Raman regions. Currently, Rafael is a Researcher/Post-Doc engaged in studies centered on the porosity of pre-salt reservoir rocks, utilizing MIP techniques, and gas and powder pycnometry. He is also involved in advanced characterization projects related to cement, employing a variety of techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), MIP, nitrogen adsorption/desorption (BET, BJH, among others), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal analysis, and vibrational spectroscopies (Raman and infrared).

Sudip Kumar Lahiri is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Toronto in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering. Lahiri holds degrees in textile technology from the University of Dhaka (BSc), textile engineering from the Wuhan Textile University (MS) and, materials science and engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (PhD). His research interests are developing new ways to fabricate durable superhyrophobic and oleophobic fabric finishes that do not utilize per-fluorinated compounds and studying on sustainable photocatalysts and adsorbents to treat organic pollutants in wastewater. Jinbong Kim, Ph.D. Principal Researcher in Korea Institute of Materials Science Jinbong Kim was born in South Korea in 1972. He received the Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering from KAIST, South Korea in 2008. He joined Korea Institute of Materials Science in South Korea in 1996 and working as a Principal Researcher. His current research interests include microwave absorbing materials for far-field/near-field wave, electromagnetic applications of composite materials, nano-composite and nanotechnology, structural design & evaluation of polymer matrix composite structures for aerospace and wind turbine parts.

Dr. Leunam Fernandez-Izquierdo received a B.S. in Chemistry (2012) at the University of Havana, where he worked on the development of nanomaterials and coordination compounds as materials for the construction of solar cells. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (2020) where he worked on the development of water-splitting systems using carbon nanotubes and semiconductors. After earning a PhD degree, he joined the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) as a Research Scientist in the Materials Science and Engineering Department, where he works on developing materials to be used as radiation detectors.

Christophe COUPEAU, Professor in Materials science, University of Poitiers, France. His research activity is related to a variety of problems in materials science concerned with plasticity, mechanical properties and stability, and failure phenomena in engineered-material systems. The approach is based on the development of scanning probe microscopy (AFM/STM) enabling nano-scale surface features to be routinely analysed, even under in situ deformation conditions. The investigation of the surface evolution under stress and the characterization at a nanometre scale of the surface effects allow a better understanding of basic deformation mechanisms controlling deformation kinetics and may establish the foundation to develop more reliable models for describing the elastic or plastic response of crystalline materials under stress. The works extend from the mechanical properties of thin films and coatings to the study of variable temperature deformation of advanced bulk materials.

Naol Dessalegn Dejene is a PhD candidate at the University of Stavanger, Norway, specializing in Additive Manufacturing, with a focus on Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) technologies. Holding an MSc in Manufacturing Engineering and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Naol’s research explores process optimization and the effects of parameters like part orientation and scanning strategies on the microstructural and mechanical properties of 3D-printed parts. His work integrates machine learning with experimental studies to improve material performance and production repeatability. Naol is passionate about teaching and advancing sustainable manufacturing practices. He is in the final stages of his PhD studies, with his defense scheduled for December 2024.

I graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology in 2023 with a PhD degree in Power Machinery and Engineering. I am currently working at the National Key Laboratory of Transient Impact and working as an engineer. I have published 5 academic publications such as SCI/EI and several invention patents in the last three years. In addition, I was awarded the “Best Researcher Award" for "World Top Scientist Awards" on 12-Oct-2024. Dr. Abdullah Faiz Alasmari is an assistant professor in civil engineering department at King Khalid University. Dr. Alasmari received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron, Ohio, in 2022, where his research focused on traffic management, utilizing intelligent transportation systems for optimizing traffic flow and reducing congestion. Eugenie Fomekong Louta is a PhD student co-tutored by the Universities of Liège in Belgium and Douala in Cameroon in fundamental and applied sciences, A&M department, Unit of Metallic Materials Sciences. My research focuses on the valorisation of vegetable shells, waste from Cameroonian biomass, in the metallic materials and also bio-sourced composites in order to contribute to the sustainable development challenges. Research work currently underway is aimed at providing operators in the surface treatment sector with metallic materials, carburising powders with optimal characteristics, environmentally friendly and low cost for results that meet their requirements.

Dr. Eng. Marta Buszko received her PhD in 2022 from the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland. Kousik Pradhan is a dedicated Ph.D. scholar specializing in sustainable water purification and energy storage solutions. His research focuses on advancing solar still desalination methods for water purification, addressing global water scarcity by harnessing solar energy. By developing efficient desalination systems and integrating advanced nanomaterials, Kousik aims to provide an eco-friendly solution to produce clean drinking water. In addition to water purification, Kousik is also committed to innovating in the field of energy storage. He is exploring the use of ferrite nanomaterials to enhance the performance of supercapacitors. These advanced energy storage devices are crucial for developing efficient and renewable power sources. Through his research, Kousik is working toward creating more durable, high-capacity supercapacitors that can be integrated into renewable energy systems. Kousik’s work in nanomaterial applications reflects his passion for environmentally sustainable technology. His dual focus on solar-driven desalination and high-efficiency supercapacitors positions him at the forefront of research in renewable resources, contributing valuable insights to both water purification and energy storage fields.
